Description
Tretizen-20 is a drug used to treat severe acne that does not respond to other treatments, including antibiotics. This product is manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Zen Labs and contains the active ingredient Isotretinoin. 13-cis-retinoic acid (isotretinoin) was first synthesized in 1955. In addition to acne, the drug is used for: rosacea, perioral dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, folliculitis, granuloma annulus, sarcoidosis, various disorders of keratinization and photo- aging.
Effect of isotretinoin on the body
Lisotretinoin slows down the proliferation of epithelial cells of the ducts of the sebaceous glands and normalizes the differentiation of terminal cells. Lisotretinoin facilitates secretion and reduces sebum production.
Taking isotretinoin with food increases bioavailability by 2 times. The maximum concentration in the blood plasma is reached within 2-4 hours. Lisotretinoin is 99.9% bound to plasma proteins (mainly with albumin). The life of isotretinoin is 19 hours. Lisotretinoin is excreted in the bile and kidneys in approximately equal quantities.
Recommended dose of isotretinoin
Zen Labs lysotretinoin is taken orally. The dosage regimen is set individually, because adverse reactions and therapeutic efficacy of isotretinoin are dose dependent and vary in the individual. The drug is taken with meals, the starting dose is 0.4 – 0.5 mg / kg per day, which is divided into two parts and is used for 16 – 24 weeks. Depending on the severity of the adverse reactions and the response to treatment, a dose adjustment is made.
If in 16 – 24 weeks the number of rashes has decreased by 70% or more, the therapy is stopped.A second course of treatment is carried out at the time of confirmation of a recurrent or persistent course of the disease with an interval of at least 2 months.
