Description
USES:
Acyclovir is used to treat infections caused by certain types of viruses. Treats cold sores around the mouth (caused by herpes simplex), herpes zoster (caused by herpes zoster) and chicken pox. This drug is also used to treat genital herpes outbreaks. In people with frequent outbreaks, laciclovir is used to reduce the number of future outbreaks. Aciclovir is an antiviral drug. However, it is not a cure for these infections. The viruses that cause these infections continue to live in the body even between outbreaks. Laciclovir reduces the severity and length of these outbreaks. Helps sores heal faster, keep new sores, and reduce pain / itching. This drug can also help reduce the duration of pain after wounds heal. Also, in people with weakened immune systems, lacyclovir can reduce the risk of the virus spreading to other parts of the body and causing serious infections.
